On May 14, 2007 Kassim Osgood along with co-hosts Rita and Scott from La Jolla Coast and Surgery Centers held the 2nd annual Kassim Osgood Celebrity Golf Tournament, located at the Del Mar Country Club. This event was designed to raise funds for low income and at risk youth. The parings party was held May13th at the Witherby.
Over $80,000 was raised from the pairings party & golf event. Proceeds from this year's event were used to provide scholarships to HS youth that excel in the class room & in their community;and to reward middle and high school boys and girls for achieving academic and citizenship goals set by their teachers and principals.
Rewards for students include receiving tickets to San Diego Chargers football & San Diego Padres baseball games, t-shirts, and food. 80 tickets are rewarded to youth San Diego Chargers home game & 30 are provided to 10 select Padres home games. Kassim & some of his friends from the Charger football team meet & greet students as they distribute tickets to each home game.
Golf Tournaments such as Kassim's help raise funds for AFE’s Activity Based Life Skills & Team Building camps that promote health and wellness, teach team work and discipline, and build self-confidence. Our goal is to motivate students to succeed in school, strengthen their self-esteem, and inspire them to follow their dreams.
A variety of present and retired San Diego Charger players, such as Phillip Rivers, Luis Castillo, Lorenzo Neal, Vincent Jackson, Marques Harris, Jacques Cesaire, Nate Kaeding, Mike Scifres, and Karl Wilson all came out to support this exciting event. One hundred and twenty-five golfers came out to show off their golf skills. After an exciting day of golf Viejas left with the win.
