Ronda McEwan, Raffi Ruotolo and Roberto E. Ruiz visited a soccer facility in Tijuana, Mexico for the ignauguration of the Alba Roja Girls Soccer league. SportSupport provided soccer uniforms and cleats to four girls teams. Athletes for Education provided soccer balls and shin guards to the teams.
For some of the girls, it was their first experience playing in organized sports. Some girls showed up wearing pants and regular shoes. It was a joy to provide them with jerseys and cleats to help motivate them to continue in sports.
All teams where very grateful for the gifts of jerseys and cleats and thanked Ronda with hugs and hi-fives.
We where lucky enough to watch the girls play, who although had little to no experience playing, had a great time and will continue to play every Sunday. SportSupport has promised to return and provide more equipment to more girls.
With so many tears and happy and gracious children, this was a very special Christmas.
At the end of the day, we noticed two boys teams playing without jerseys as well, and where able to donate sets of shirts to each team, one white and the other yellow, so that they could play as well.
