San Diego current SD Chargers such as Steve Gregory, Jeromey Clary, Tra Battle, Jacques Cesaire, Tim Dobbins Luis Castillo, Brandon McKinney, Eric Weddle, and joined world-class Paralympics Running Champion, Marlon Shirley, X-Games BMX rider gold medalist Kevin Robinson, former MLB star, Kevin Mitchell and former NFL stars Karl Wilson and Darren Carrington to raise money for their respective foundations during this fun and rewarding weekend.
Part one, the Pairings Party, was held at the Palm Terrace at the Omni Hotel which offered ocean breezes cooling the balcony as the sun set on San Diego. With the picturesque backdrop, the athletes showed off their auctioneering skills as they tempted sponsors, golfers and guests to bid on a spectacular array of fabulous packages
such as 4 Chargers tickets & pre-game field passes, Dinner for 10 hosted at winners home, sponsored and prepared by Chief Christopher from Flemings (downtown location) w/ some of your favorite Chargers players, Spa packages by Luminesse Medical Spa.
There where also fantastic auctions items such as a weekend stay to include dinner @ the at La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club, Fantastic pair of watches donated by Mike Howell owner of Curtis & Co & Madden '08 En Espanol X-Box Game & Poster autographed by Luis Castillo during the auctions. Delicious food adorned the banquet tables as guests sampled on upscale faire including sushi, Ahi Poke on Wontons, crab cakes, sashimi, cordon blue bites and mini quiches.
Fast forward to part two, the Golf Tournament, held at the exquisite La Costa Resort & Spa golf course on Monday afternoon. Athletes, sponsors and guests all competed to outdo each other in hopes of taking home the title of "Tournament Champion."; The day included many laughs and amazing shots as well as a far share of miscues and colorful golf outfits which provided comic relief for all. Enhancing the experience were the sponsors who offered golfers food, drinks, massages and/or goodies at each hole.
Dr. Lenihan's team reigned as the victors at the end of the day; however, all was not lost for the other golfing teams as the weekend closed on a high note as thousands of dollars were raised for Athletes for Education programs.
