On Wednesday, May 12th, the Taste of AFE Gala represented the most polished and glamorous event in AFE’s history. Taking place in the elegant ballroom at the Omni San Diego Hotel, the Gala featured amazing dishes from some of some of San Diego’s finest restaurants and chefs including: Flemings, Oceanaire, Los Arcos, Urban Bar & Grill, Café Coyote, Tequila Fortaleza, Chianti, San Diego Desserts and Cupcake Café. Children from Sunset Elementary school took the stage to rave about the wild success of the SG Squad and AFE’s Wellness Program.
The goal was to make sure the audience enjoyed a feast of delicious fare while educating them on both Athletes for Education and our program. To aid that cause, Dr. Eunice Mata shared her medical knowledge while slides illustrated the magnitude of the childhood obesity epidemic through statistical data. In addition, the audience was awed by a slideshow featuring more than 250 pictures from the past year depicting AFE’s incredible programs and how we touch the lives of so many people each day!
Thank you to AFE’s Executive Leadership Team & Athletes, that without your dedication, hard work & kindness in preparation for this year’s event, it would not have been as successful as it was... :) Click on a photo below to open a larger version
